Their names were Kremegne, Epstein, Kisling...Fascinated by French impressionists, they too wanted to achieve modernity. Their schools were the Academy of La Grande Chaumiere, the Julian Academy or the Ranson Academy and they hang out at Paris’ cafés: Le Select or La Coupole. At La Ruche, they were neigh- bours of Marc Chagall or Chaïm Soutine...

Gathered under the School of Paris’ movement as Andre Warnod called this group of artists in 1925, these foreign artists arrived in Paris at the beginning of the twentieth century. They were drawn by the vitality and the french capital’s atmosphere, center of an international artistic avant garde.

Today, demand for their paintings is exploding because of the central and eastern european clientele’s interest.

This spring, the success of our first auction sale totally dedicated to the School of Paris confirms this tendancy. Our results show the maturity of this market and our leading position in this segment. Indeed, on March 23rd, we have managed to sell 93% of our works for a total of 1,5M €. We even broke five world records. Consequently, Artcurial has planned a new auction in november 2011 dedicated to the 1905 -1939 School of Paris.
